Both of this weeks 4&5’25 the instructor scratched paintings. Requesting that I not include them in my completed pieces of portfolio of works. I am not one to follow the rules and will include them.

The assignment was line repetition and the expression of line ~ okay so we are off on 2-17 I have a little time to get some work done and include these two.

Lets see what I can do.

Feeling frustrated by my inability to express what was being asked of in class and completely bored all ready by my still life I decided to zoom in on my favorite part of the still life. The plastic and silk flowers.

WBTO

Watercolor Beyond The Obvious
A workshop ~ a study of design principles - working with the same still life through out the 10 weeks.
The focus of this workshop is on the elements and principles of good design. Each week the lecture focus’s on one of the elements and/or principles of fine art design. We paint at home emphasizing on the weeks lecture.

The first three paintings were done on Arches 300 lb cold press ~ 22 x 30

The following 22 were done on Kilimnjaro 140 lb ~ 22 x 30

1/25
A whimsical beginning a feel for the study or what turned out to be my thumbnail. I like the fluid fun feel.

2/25
This week for me was a study in color. Using what feels to me to be an old school color palette. Presenting the still life in a serious tone. Using Quinacridone Gold, Rose Madder and Indigo a Masters palette using your basic yellow, red and blue.

3/25
Another color study using a limited palette (red, yellow, blue). Using Quinacridone Rose, Aureolin and Cobalt creating what I believe and feel is more of a delicate delivery of the same still life study.
